The 2018 Sequoyah Fund Summer Youth Entrepreneurship Camp is officially on the calendar for July 23-27! Our 6th annual camp for kids aged 10-14 will be held at the Painttown Recreation Center this year. Kids will learn what it takes to start a business, and they’ll enjoy activities designed to bring out their creativity, build communication skills, instill the importance of planning, and grow their ability to work effectively in teams.
Last year we invited four local businesses to help mentor the campers, and they held a public sale at the end of the week to raise money for the program. This was a competitive event, and campers who meet their objectives were awarded cash prizes. We’re looking forward to an even better experience this year based on what we learned last year.
Camp attendance is limited to 20 campers, so early registration is encouraged. The week-long camp costs $50, but campers can qualify for a scholarship by writing a brief essay. Details are on the registration form. The camp is sponsored in large part by a grant from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation.
